Nigerian sinsger, Terry G who recently released a new single has disclosed that her baby mama doesn’t like his song even though she loves him.

According to Terry G, his baby mama with whom he has a six-year-old son was his biggest critic as regards his career.

He told Saturday Beats;

“My baby mama is not worried about the fact that we have not got married yet so people should not worry on our behalf. At the end of the day, what is marriage? I do not have a clue and I cannot jump into it. “We are still both young and by God’s grace, we have been through the struggles together. Most of my business is being handled by her. When we get to a certain age, we would do it (get married). I believe in the institution of marriage.

“She is the only child of her mother and the pressure seems to be more from her side (family) but she is in charge. She is a rich girl and in charge. She does not feel threatened by the fact that we are not yet legally married because she knows the kind of person that I am. She knows Gabriel, but does not know Terry G. She does not even like Terry G. She is not a fan of Terry G and she criticises my songs a lot. She is so classy.”

Olu Maintain has debunked claims that his hit single Yahooze promoted internet fraud.

The veteran singer said he was not the one that began the trend, stressed that his 11-year-old song “Yahooze” didn’t promote Internet fraud.

Olu Maintain added that his song was about an artiste that got a million dollar deal, and the video he shot for the song passed the message across clearly.

“When you create a body of art, people can misinterpret it the way they see fit. I mean, Yahooze is 11 years old and if you watch the video of the song, it was centered around an upcoming artiste that got a million dollar record deal. That was the message I presented with the song. Does the music video in any way represent Internet fraud? The answer is no.

“I cannot be responsible for how people interpret a work of art. It is like a painting, a man would value a painting for millions of dollars but to the other man, it does not make sense. Art should be subjected to everyone’s interpretation. My interpretation of that form of art was made very obvious,” he said.

In his chat with Saturday Beats, he further revealed why it’s been difficult releasing another hit song that could rival “Yahooze”. He said;

“It is a different generation and a different era with a different demography. As an artiste; as you grow, your core demography changes.

“Yahooze came out in an era when there was no social media. Today, people’s patience to digest any material is very short; 11 years ago, it was not like that. If you had a hit song, it could last for about two years but these days you are competing with so many bodies of work and it would take something special for you to have the same kind of buzz that a song like Yahooze had.”

Popular comedian, Alleluya Akporobome, a.k.a, Ali Baba, has urged Nigerian youths to acquire skills that will enable them to be financially independent.

The comedian, who spoke with Punch on the sideline of a graduation ceremony held at Gazzelle Academy in Lagos, described skills acquisition as an important factor in the development of any country’s economy, which many Nigerian youths had, unfortunately, ignored.

He said,

“Mental laziness is the biggest challenge facing our youths. A lot of people said President Muhammadu Buhari was wrong when he said that Nigerian youths were lazy. But there are young people who don’t want to do any work in this country. They have no respect for anyone who is employed. These people even treat labourers with disdain and laugh at commercial drivers.”

While commending Gazzelle Academy for training the youth on makeup and fashion, he stated that the makeup and beauty industry was not for women’s faces alone, as it could be used for many other things.

“Skills acquisition is the growth of SME, which is the bedrock of any economy. What Gazzelle is doing is commendable and they deserve all the accolades. It was even hard for some of the graduands to attend the ceremony because they had been booked.

“I advise youths to pick up skills. Models and actors now depend heavily on makeup artists and fashion designers. With makeup artistry, Tara Fela-Durotoye is very successful and she has trained a lot of people too.”

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo may not be in the best mood at the moment as the actress has taken to social media to lash out at colleagues in Nollywood.

According to the actress, the industry is filled with gossips, backstabbing, envy, hatreds and all sorts of unfriendly acts.

She even maintained that the male actors are not left behind also and majority of the stakeholders in the industry are more concerned about their colleague’s short-coming.

She wrote:

MY INDUSTRY, I JUST CAN’T COMPREHEND!!! Gossip, Envy, Faux, Backstabbing & Biting… the list goes on.

UNFORTUNATELY MEN ARE NOT LEFT OUT…. WHAT A SHAME!!!

We never truly support our own, we’re just friends when it suits. How well we’re perfect deceiving our fans…. that’s why we are ACTORS 😆😆😆

Can I just hint y’all that we are just colleagues in some shit competition that no one understands, unfortunately not only two can play the game…. but hundreds can play the role.
But then, why can’t we all understand that we are all different, unique in different ways, aspiring to be more successful.

Have you ever come to terms that fingers are never equal? Be grateful for what you have and stop seeking someone else’s downfall…. or is the character included in the script? ….

Oh yes, we get along with some, yet we are mindful of our utterances because all they wanna know is your 🤐🤐🤐. Then we act for the gram where we seek validation for our not so real relationships 😂😂😂…. problems starts when you refuse to let them into your business, you become a rival and a threat… boom, they start rewriting the script…… and when they’re done destroying you, they move to the next gullible victim….. Damn, we are professionals in this field… Trust me. …

What about the motivational writers 😱😱😱…. The script gets changed every seconds, at least to suit them….. The victim players… awon rumour mongers. Don’t be fooled……Watch, Learn, get entertained & move on.

We are all acting 😂😂😂

20 years of entertainment, different roles, same game…. Trust me when I say, the game is not for a leaner…. you gotta to be rooted. It’s unexplainable.

Don’t be fooled our industry is a make-believe world

Keep ur circle small & keep ur shit to urself

if u know, u know

The winner of Project Fame Season 6 which held in the year 2013, Olawale Ojo who is now a cab driver, has revealed his battle with depression.

He shared an open letter on dealing with depression and how he realised he really needs to speak with a professional.

See what he wrote below;

I still can’t make sense of it. At my lowest point, I gave an unfiltered interview and talked openly about my situation.

Like many people in Nigeria, things were dire. To make it worse, given my previous achievements, few would’ve expected it.

This spontaneous moment of vulnerability actually sparked something creatively and professionally. I have been creating some of my best work which very soon I can share with the world.

Money still no dey. But I dey see am around the corner. What’s the lesson in all of this?

There is hope in vulnerability.

There is no shame in your situation, no matter what it is.

You don’t need to read the newspaper to realize that people are suffering. You see it in the streets. Hear it from your friends. And even your family.

You witness yourself, or a close relative or friends retreat alone to the edge of the Lagoon.

And in Nigeria where saving face is Rule #1. We suffer alone. We don’t let people into our lives because they might see the cracks that are present. We forget that the more people that join us in pounding the yam, the faster we get to eat. We tie our self worth, our confidence, our happiness to our situation. And pile on self-shaming.

And for some people, they cross over into the realm of depression. And sadly some people take the mortal decision to drown in that Lagoon.

As I said earlier, there is hope in vulnerability. I’m proof of it.

So if you’re in this situation, I implore you, find someone trusted, hopefully someone trained or extremely experienced to counsel. And allow yourself to be vulnerable to them. Share your worse, your darkest of thoughts, your happiest of moments. I promise you, you will be better for it.

Ironically, I’ve essentially gone through therapy sessions in public the last few months. I now realize I should eventually talk to an actual professional therapist to help deal with the pains of the past in order to avoid “the Lagoon” and prepare for the future.

If you can afford it, I suggest you do the same. If you can’t, please refer to the resources below.

You have gone through some shit. You might be currently going through some shit. And since we’re in Nigeria in 2018, the shit might be ghastly. Please don’t suffer alone. Heed my advice. Talk to a professional in a private setting.

I also received many messages from people that were touched by my story. People that pushed forward because of my choosing to be vulnerable. I’ve realized I share more of my story and life.

I also realize that social media is probably not the most healthy place to do that. I want to share my thoughts, my life, my ups, and my downs. And not worry about it going viral. Just for my few loyal fans, and anyone else who cares enough to let me into their inbox.

If you want to, feel free to subscribe via email here (olawale.astro.ng/signup). And please, these will be mostly personal thoughts. Don’t republish the emails.

To wrap up, thanks to all of you who showed support, who reached out, and supported me. God bless you.

On the professional front, I’m committed to being Olawale. I don’t need to be Wizkid or Davido. I don’t need supermodel followers (though I won’t protest).

I’m committed to making music that my fans can vibe to and God willing, make a decent and honest loving from it.

Yours faithfully,

Olawale

South African newspaper Sowetan has published a letter written by Beyoncé and addressed to the late Nelson Mandela.

The letter sees the 37-year-old singer thanking Mandela who passed away in 2013 for teaching her life lessons that she can pass on to her children. She also writes of her conversations with the political leader, and how it will be an honor for her to perform at the forthcoming Global Citizen Festival that tributes him.

Read below:

Dear Madiba by Beyoncé Knowles-Carter

Dear Madiba,

I first met you in 2004 for the 46664 AIDS Benefit Concert in Cape Town, and the impact you have had on my life resonates with me today and every day. Your kindness and gratitude for every experience, and your ability to forgive are lessons I have learned and will pass on to my three children. My entire family holds you in high regard.

It is an honor for me to travel to South Africa this week in celebration of you and your efforts to right so many wrongs. You were a strategic warrior, a bold activist, and charismatic and well-loved leader. Your vision for dignity, for human rights, for peace and a South Africa free of racism and apartheid, allows us all to turn dreams into reality.

I remember taking that walk with you back to the prison on Robben Island where you spent 18 of those imprisoned 27 years. I recall your measured but focused steps in as you recounted the stories of the struggles, the sacrifices and your resilience. You smiled as you talked to a crowd of artists and their guests, including my mother, who first told my sister and me about the great Nelson Mandela. In that moment I truly understood your heart and humility.

You made it possible for so many people like me to reject impossibilities and understand our capabilities in making lasting change in the world. The smallest efforts could change the trajectory for so many living in extreme poverty, facing injustices, the indecency of racism and fighting for their rights as humans.

As we celebrate the Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100, honoring your centennial year, I promise you that we have made your dreams our own.

Your work and your sacrifices were not in vain. I will cherish every moment shared in your presence and use the lessons learned from you as fuel to stir positive ideas and solutions.
