Mikel Obi, the Nigerian football star has officially changed his name. The Chelsea midfielder was born John Michael Nchekwube Obinna but had to bear ‘Mikel’ when the Nigerian Football Association mistakenly used ‘Mikel’ instead of Michael on his submission form for the 2003 FIFA Under-17 World Championships.
However, here is the plot twist.
He has been known as ‘John Obi Mikel’ since he joined Chelsea in 2006, henceforth he wants to be called ‘Mikel John Obi’.
