1 Christine Izuakor is a first generation Nigerian in America, native Houstonian, and Chicago resident, who is 27 years old.
2 She started her PhD program at age 23 and at that time was told she was too young, too naive and too inexperienced to contribute anything to the industry.
3 In 2012, she earned a M.S. in information systems security from University of Houston (3.98 out of 4 GPA) and went on to earn a Ph.D. in security engineering (3.9 out of 4 GPA) from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.
4 Christine is a co-founder and the Vice President of Gen Trend, United Airlines’ Millennial business resource group.
5 She has also published in numerous international journals, and travelled to 19 cities across 10 countries – all while working a full-time job on the cyber security team of a Fortune 100 company, in which she recently received a promotion.
6 As an advocate of diversity and inclusion, christine serves as the Head Editor of the Illinois Diversity Council Editorial Board, and is also a member of the National Diversity Council Newsletter Committee.
