Atiku Abubakar and Goodluck Jonathan have reacted to the ultimatum given to Igbos by Northern Youth on social media page.
Atiku Abubakar in a series of tweet expressed his opinion on the controversial ultimatum.
Our country is too precious; our problems are too pressing to pander to divisive rhetoric.

The ultimatum issued by a Northern youth coalition to the Igbos to quit the region is provocative, and a grave threat to national security.

The counter response by a South-east group to Northerners is also reckless and thoughtless.

Jonathan who has also reacted on his social media page said;
“Every Nigerian citizen has an inalienable right to reside in any part of Nigeria. As Nigerians, we should all tailor our thoughts, actions and utterances to promote this and other rights. We are all brothers and sisters born from the womb of mother Nigeria. There are no still births or unwanted births from our mother. We are all one and equal and it is the responsibility of all men of goodwill to appeal for calm and unity in our beloved country Nigerians. GEJ.”
Recall that, All Igbos living in the 19 Northern States were yesterday, June 6, issued a three-month ultimatum to quit or be forced out after expiration of the October 1, 2017 deadline.
A coalition of Northern groups, including the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum issued the ultimatum.
“We are also telling our brothers (northerners) out there in the South-East to get prepared to come back home,” the National President, AYCF, Yerima Shettima, said at a press conference in Kaduna.
The ultimatum followed a successful sit-at-home order enforced by the Nnamdi Kanu-led Indigenous People of Biafra on May 30, 2017 which the five South-East states complied with.
The ultimatum was handed down at a well attended press conference held at the Arewa House, Kaduna.
