Sola Sobowale Completely Steals The Show In The Trailer For ‘Witness Box’

As Toyin Tomato, the villain we loved to hate in the groundbreaking TV show, Super Story: Oh Father, Oh Daughter and as Tinuade Coker, the hilarious mother-of-the-bride in the record-breaking The Wedding Party, Sola Sobowale has managed to solidify her relevance for different generations.

It’s no fluke that she is consistently the best thing about every project she’s in – just check out her work in Africa Magic’s underseen dramedy, Hustle. She is simply one of the strongest actors we have working today; and that’s why any new project she gets immediately grabs our attention.

So, while the trailer for Stanley Obi’s upcoming courtroom dramedy, Witness Box, might not be particularly great (or even coherent), it quickly won us over by simply letting Sola Sobowale’s signature brand of unhinged comedy shine through.

 Sola Sobowale’s performance as Mrs Ego fills every inch of the one-minute trailer that it took us a third viewing to realize that the rest of the movie’s cast is actually pretty impressive as well: Wale Ojo, Femi Branch, Keira Hewatch, Iyke Michael, Chiwetalu Agu, Soni Irabor and Betty Irabor.

So, while the synopsis for Witness Box is as vague as it gets – TNS says it’s “about self against self” – and no official released date has been announced, you can colour us excited to watch Sola Sobowale bring her magic to the big screen again.
