Enyeama plays for Ligue 1 club Lille as a goalkeeper. He was also a member of the Nigerian national team from 2002 until October 2015, serving as its captain from 2013 until his retirement from international football. He is his nation’s most capped player of all time, ending his international career with 101 caps in March 2017 Super eagles coach, Gernot Rohr considered persauding Enyeama to rejoin the Super Eagles saying Enyeama’s retirement was as a result of a misunderstanding between him and former coach Sunday Oliseh.

In 2004, Enyeama was involved in a car accident in Uyo, southern Nigeria, in which two motorcycle passengers were killed. The driver of the car, of which Enyeama was in, was left in critical condition. Despite the severity of the accident, Enyeama came out with only bruises after the car somersaulted twice as it swerved to avoid the motorbike.
