David West, will be holding a basketball clinic in Ghana through Africa All Access, a program he’s running in collaboration with other agencies to support young people in Africa.
With a focus on bringing together talented Ghanaian players between the ages of 10 and 18, the clinic will offer instructions to the young players and give them a chance to interact with NBA players like TJ Warren of Phoenix Suns and Rasual Butler who plays for San Antonio Spurs. Coaches from Ghana will also be there to support the short course.
It won’t be all about basketball at the clinic though, as the organizers will use the opportunity to introduce the players to a “Solutions Hub” in which innovative technologies supporting renewable energy, clean water, electric vehicles, and 3D printing will be unveiled. The players will also be engaged on health and wellness topics.
According to My Joy Online, West summarizes it all:
“Athletics is the conduit, but it goes much deeper than that. I want to work with the communities, with leaders to bring broader solutions addressing healthcare, education, entrepreneurship and technology innovation.”
The basketball clinic will take place at the University of Ghana basketball courts on Tuesday, August 15.
