Bobrisky, The male who look more like a female is well-known as a fashionista who is probably one of the most controversial Nigerian celebrity.
Early life
Bobrisky was born Okuneye Idris Olarenwaju in 1992 at Ebute-Metta, Lagos into a Muslim family. He lost his mother in 2008 and his father is a retired transporter.
Education
He finished his secondary school education from King’s College in Lagos State and graduated from the department of accounting in University of Lagos, (UNILAG).
Rise To Fame
Bobrisky went viral when an aide to President Muhammadu Buhari and a marketing executive pulled out of appearing with him on a social media panel in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
He also became recognized by being highly controversial on social media. Bobrisky was able to gather traffic to his Snapchat account when he claimed he had a lover who is assumed to be of masculine gender despite the Nigerian constitution at that point in time which made such same sex relationships an offence punishable by serving 14 years in a penitentiary.
Career
He reportedly makes his living selling 100,000 naira ($317) skin-whitening creams while chronicling online his life of luxury in Lagos. He also made his debut as an actor in a recent movie, Ojuloge alongside Toyin Afolayan and Tayo Sobola.
Relationship
A lot of controversies trailed his relationship life as rumor spread that his lover could be a man. He has never directly refuted this claims but people have come to this conclusion because he uses cosmetics, dresses like a woman and whitens his skin.
Controversies
In 2016, the Media sensation and self aclaimed ‘African Barbie’, Bobrisky was arrested by the Lagos state police for allegedly beating up a lady whoallegedly took photos of him. Bobrisky got irritated and allegedly, physically assaulted her.
In October 2016 he posted a photo with N7 million, which he received from his business partner, patron, and supporter which he also calls ‘his bae’
Bobrisky and Fashion designer Toyin Lawani had a social media rift after Toyin allegedly shaded him supposedly calling him a riff-raff and the bleaching cream expert rained down insults on her.
He also had the internet abuzz with news of him when he opened up about his housewarming party plans. Saying, it is an all ladies affair and that the asoebi for guests is forty five thousand naira (#45,000).
Also a US-based Nigerian hairstylist called out the controversial socialite for not paying for her services despite the challenges faced in plaiting his short hair.
Bobrisky has had several issues with Tunde Ednut ranging from when the latter released unedited photos of him and more recently when Tunde Ednut alleged that Bobrisky quietly moved out of his house over rent issue.
Achievements
Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade, Google’s Communications and Public Affairs Manager, Anglophone West Africa, said Bobrisky was most searched individual from October 26 to November 2016.
At some point, Bobrisky was the trendiest person on Snapchat and scored more than 30 thousand views a day.He has also been recognised internationally on various platforms.
Bobrisky has also been asked by certain event planners to come and give a speech at their events.
