Veteran Nollywood actor and a man identified as Papy Eleniyan were recently involved in a bitter exchange of words on Instagram over the actor’s his support for Sanwo-Olu Babajide, the APC governorship candidate in Lagos State.

Yemi Solade had posted an image to celebrate Jide Sanwo-Olu, and Eleniyan questioned him, saying he thought the actor didn’t have an interest in politics.

In his reaction, Solade told him to hang himself and used unprintable words to qualify him, which further led to a bitter exchange of words between both of them.

In a chat with Sunday Scoop, the actor has said that though he was not interested in talking politics, he enjoyed what he was doing on social media.

He said:

“I am a registered member of the APC and my post on Instagram was to support a friend. But for those who will not stay on their lanes and who need cheap publicity, it is necessary to put them in their place.”

According to him, he doesn’t know the things that worked against Governor Akinwunmi Ambode at the APC’s primary in Lagos State.

He added:

“Also, I can’t say Sanwo-Olu will perform better as a governor. We should wait and see what happens. We are all stakeholders in Lagos State; I was born in Lagos and I live as well as work in Lagos.”
