Members of the Shiite movement in Niger state protested the continued detention of its leader Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky by the security operatives.

 The leader of the Shiite movement in Niger state Mallam Ibrahim Khalid Mohammed said the Sheikh was detained despite preaching peace and peaceful co-existence.

Speaking to followers at the Minna central mosque, Mallam Ibrahim called on the government to release the corpse of some of its dead members so they can have proper burials.

He said: “We are also calling for the release of the corpses of the dead for burial. Many innocent souls were killed in Zaria during the face-off with the military and the house of their leader and followers were demolished.”

He also noted that the organization (set up 37 years ago) was known for its peaceful existence.

He added: “Our leader is a patient and peace loving person who remain calm even when two of his sons were killed some time ago, God will not let go any injustice melted on our leader and supporters, release our leader for us.”

Recently, by taking to the streets of Kano state in an event called the Maulud procession on December 24.

The group was led by Mallam Sanusi Abdulkadir from Kabara where they gathered before moving through Soron Dinki, Makwarari Jakara, and Kwanar Dala, da Gwammaja and Kofar Mazuma areas in Kano metropolis.
