Two homosexual men, allegedly an uncle and his nephew, were caught having sex at Agbor Alidinma in Ika South Local Government area of Delta state, yesterday, December 23.
Two relatives, Mr. Monday Ehikwe and Godwin Chukwueku Okwuoseh, were reportedly caught pantd-down by the vigilante group in one of the buildings in the area. They were detained and handed over to the Okpala, the spiritual head of Agbor-Alidinma and his council of chiefs.
The duo were later sent to the Chief Priest of a local shrine, Dr Micheal Nmose, for the s0-called spiritual cleansing and administration of first step traditional oath on them.
Two offenders were ordered to pay a fine of N25,000 each and return to the shrine with one native cow, 36 native chalks, 50 cola nuts, two red cloths and 20 tuber of yams for the ritual completion in January next year.

It would be recalled that doth male and female same-sex sexual activity is illegal in Nigeria. The maximum punishment in the twelve northern states that have adopted Shari’a law is death by stoning.

In southern Nigeria and under the secular criminal laws of northern Nigeria, the maximum punishment for same-sex sexual activity is 14 years’ imprisonment. The Same-Sex Marriage Prohibition Act criminalises all forms of same-sex unions and same-sex marriage throughout the country.
