The Ministry of Youth and Sports has charged the Taekwondo Federation ahead of the Olympic Games in Rio next year.

Barrister Solomon Dalung gave the charge following another false report online that the Ministry has upheld the impeachment of its President George Ashiru.

Dalung said: “We know that there’s a problem in the Taekwondo Federation but we are not aware of any impeachment  of the President or any other person. We have received petitions from members of the TFN board and also from the President of the Federation George Ashiru. There are processes for impeachment and removal of a President of a federation so you can’t just wake up and remove the President. We will look at the petitions before us objectively and we’ll call for both parties to see how the issue can be settled amicably. The board remains as we met it with Ashiru as President . For now, we want to avoid further distractions as  our focus is on how to qualify for the Rio Olympics”.
