Nigerians took to different social media to react to the recent statement of President Muhammadu Buhari that Nigeria has technically defeated the deadly Boko Haram insurgency.
The Nigerian president gave his military three month deadline to crush the militant sect.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, on December 23 stated that that the Nigerian military had met the December deadline.
President Buhari in his interview to the BBC said that the militant group could no longer mount “conventional attacks” against security forces or population centres.
The sect had been weakened to fighting with improvised explosives devices and remained a force only in its heartland of Borno state, the leader of the nation said.

Boko Haram has been defined as one of the world’s deadliest terror organisations.
